Middle School Ringette Show Down

The 4th Annual Ringette NS Middle School Ringette Show Down and 2nd Annual Grade 5/6 Jam take place May 23-25, 2025 at RBC.

Last year, students representing over 40 schools will compete on a total of seventeen teams in three divisions!

Registration is now open, and participation is open to any students in Grades 5-9. The registration fee is $100/player, and every player is guaranteed at least 4 games. Please etransfer the fee to execdirector@ringette.ns.ca. IMPORTANT: Please include your child's name and school in the etransfer! Click here to register: Player Registration

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: April 11, 2025.

Additional Information

Player Eligibility

Registration is open to all! Although this is a Ringette tournament, we welcome and encourage participation from all students who are able to skate and who have the requisite protective gear. We will help source Ringette cages and sticks for anyone who wishes to play but who does not have those particular items. Please contact Stacey at execdirector@ringette.ns.ca for more information or to request assistance.

We will accept registrations from the following participants this year:
  • students in a middle school (between grades 6/7 to grades 8/9),
  • students in grades 5 and 6 at an elementary school
Our intention is to offer a Grade 5/6 (equivalent to U12) division. However, this depends entirely on registration numbers, and the Tournament Committee reserves the right to reconsider this decision.

Registration is by individual player.

Team Composition

Students will be placed on a team with students from their own school and, depending on numbers, with students from other schools within their family of schools (i.e. if there are not enough students from an individual school to make a team, those students will combine with students from other schools to form a team).

We will do our best to accommodate everyone, but registration is limited based on ice availability. Final participation decisions will depend on registration numbers and team/tournament composition. Athlete safety is our primary consideration, and we will make our final decision on Grade 5 participation based on registration numbers, the composition of the Grade 5 athlete's team and division.

At this point, we intend offer 3 divisions:
  • Division 1 for teams that have Grade 9 students (Grades 7, 8 and 9),
  • Division 2 for teams that do not have Grade 9 students (Grades 7 and 8), and
  • Division 3 for teams composed of Grade 5 and 6 students.

Tournament Rules and Schedule

Additional details about the tournament - including tournament rules and roster submission deadline - will be forwarded to team after registration closes.

Coaching

Coaching staff applications are also now open: Coaching Application

IMPORTANT: The Middle School Tournament is hosted by Ringette NS and is not a school-sanctioned sporting event within the mandate of School Sport NS. Accordingly, we ask that you do not contact your school administration regarding the use of school jerseys or with any other requests. However, school jerseys will be acceptable team wear during the tournament if use thereof is offered by a particular school.
