Change Room Guidelines

A key component of ensuring transgender inclusion in our sport is establishing and implementing change room guidelines. Ringette NS supports the guidelines created by Ringette Canada including the following key components:

  • All athletes arrive at the rink wearing “minimum attire” or “base layer” (e.g., shorts and t-shirt, compression shorts and shirt or sports bra) or change into that base layer in a private area before entering the common area of the change room - different scenarios are provided in the link below but essentially everyone is wearing their base layer when in any non-private area;
  • Accommodations made at request of athlete - if an athlete requests a separate, private change room (or some other type of accommodation), we work to actualize the request. Different scenarios are discussed in the link but if you have difficulty obtaining cooperation of rinks or venues or other struggles with implementing this, please reach out to us for assistance.
